Evaluation

I think that if everything had worked as I wanted it to then it would have been a good website, however we found that with what we wanted to do it wouldn’t allow us to as we had to insert an extra programming code in order to make one part work, but we found that by doing this it stopped other parts of the website from working. For example I originally had it so that when you hover over my links to my other pages that it would become a bigger font and a different colour but then we added photos to the home page that were faded and we made it so that when you hover over the photos they came to full brightness. But after this we found that the two did not work together, so in the end I had to decide to keep the effects on the photos and loose the effect of the bigger font.

Also on my other pages some of the photos didn’t actually show upon the screen and I couldn't figure out why, so you couldn’t see any of my photography. Also I had some captions underneath the photos telling you what class the horses were competing in and unfortunately that didn’t work either, if this had all of worked as I had hoped then it would have been a good website. Another thing that didn’t work is that when you click on one of the photos on the ‘Windsor horse show’ page it was supposed to open up in a separate window in a bigger size. But unfortunately that didn’t work either, because of the fact that the programming code we needed to use wouldn’t work within the programme (Notebook and FrontPage) that we were using to make our website.

So with all of these things that went wrong whilst I was trying to make my website the final website isn’t as good as I had hoped it would be.

Understanding Common Web Coding Protocol

WWW. (World Wide Web/ the web) is a system of interlinked hypertext. Using a web browser you can access whatever web pages you like, whether that be photos, videos or text. You can find pretty much anything on the World Wide Web.

Without a HTML there is no web page. A web browser reads the HTML which builds the web page and transforms it into a visual. HTML allows you to put images onto a website. HTML (Hyper Text Mark up Language) consists of tags (<tag>). There is an opening tag then the content then a closing tag. Within the HTML are the Head and the Body. The Head contains; the title, the colours of the font and the background, the font size and any cool effects that you may have such as when you hover over text it changes colour and size or effects on the images that are displayed on the page. Before opening the Body you must close the Head (</head>) Within the Body is the content such as; the text and the images and where on the page they are for example the left, right or centre of the page and the size of the image as well. Also within the Body are the hyperlinks to the other pages on your website.

Within the Head is CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and it is the look of the webpage, colours and size etc. It separates colours and fonts sizes and layout into families so that you can change all the text as one. This makes the whole website look cleaner and professional and it makes things a lot simpler when creating a website.

When you search something in a browser it comes up with a list of different websites that they think will give you what you are looking for and the way that they do this is by sending out spiders using Search Engine Optimization and finding your website through keywords and displaying them on the web browsers results, it is also a good idea to include spelling mistakes when setting up Search Engine Optimization so that it will come up on the ‘did you mean’ results as well and there is a more likely chance your website will be viewed.
